RESUMEN: Con capturas procedentes de la Cordillera Cantábrica (Norte de España), se da a conocer la presencia de Hydraena (Haenydra) polita Kiesenwetter, 1849 en la Península Ibérica. Se revisan y figuran los caracteres taxonómicos más idóneos para su identificación, aportándose nuevos datos sobre su distribución y ecología.

ABSTRACT: Hydraena (Haenydra) polita Kiesenwetter, 1849, first record for the Iberian Peninsula fauna (Coleoptera Hydraenidae). With materials from Cantabrian Mountains (N. Spain) is reported for the first time the presence of Hydraena (Haenydra) polita Kiesenwetter, 1849 in the Iberian Peninsula. The basic taxonomic characters for its determination are described and illustrated, as well as new information regarding the ecology and distribution of this species.

RESUMEN: Dentro de la serie «Adefagofauna acuática hispano-portuguesa (Coleoptera) que vienen realizando los autores, se dedica este artículo al estudio de un endemismo ibérico: Deronectes bertrandi LEGROS, 1956; especie que fue capturada por primera vez el 19 de julio de 1953 por BERTRAND en el río Quiviesa, a su paso por la localidad cántabra de Potes.

El estudio faunístico realizado en la Cordillera Cantábrica (provincias de León, Asturias y Cantabria) durante los años 1986 y 1987,ha permitido la captura de 77 imagos de este taxón. Sobre la base de estos ejemplares, los autores efectuan un análisis bibliográfico -mediantes técnicas informáticas-, y aportan algunos aspectos inéditos de su morfología y otros complementarios de la distribución.

RÉSUMÉ: Dans la série «Adephagofaune aquatique hispano-portugaise» (Coleoptera) que les auteurs sont en train de reáliser, nous consacrons cet article à l’étude d’un endémisme ibérique: Deronectes bertrandi LEGROS, 1956; cette espèce, a été capturée pour la première fois le 19 juillet 1953 par BERTRAND en la rivière Quiviesa en Cantabria (=Santander, Espagne).

L’étude faunistique réalisée dans les massifs montagneux de l’Espagne (prov. de León, Asturias et Cantabria) entre les années 1986 et 1987, a permis la capture de 77 images de ce taxon. Sur la base de ces exemplaires, les auteurs ont effectué une analyse bibliographique avec de techniques informatiques, et ont apportés quelques aspects inédits de leur morphologie et d’autres qui sont un complément de leur distribution.

RADDUM, G. G.; G. HAGENLUND & G. A. HALVORSEN, 1984.- Effects of lime treatment on the benthos of lake Sondre Boksjo. Institute of Freshwater Research Drottningholm. Report No. 61: 167-176.

ABSTRACT: Lake Sondre (= S.) Boksjo, on the border between Sweden and Norway, was during July-August 1980 limed with 9000 tons of CaCOg. Quantitative and qualitative samples of bottom animals were taken before and after the treatment in Lake S. Boksjo and in the untreated lake, Nordre (= N.) Boksjo. The running water fauna was investigated at one locality downstream of Lake N. Boksjo and at two localities downstream of Lake S. Boksjo. The mayfly Baetis rhodani (Pictet) was absent from the river before liming. After the treatment the species occurred at the upper part of the outlet river of Lake S. Boksjo. Asellus aquaticus (L.) was present in slow-flowing parts of the river before liming. After the treatment the species in­ creased in density 8—10 times. A. aquaticus was not found in Lake S. Boksjo before liming, but occurred with a few individuals after the treatment. Increased abundance was recorded in the treated lake for the mayflies Leptophlebia spp., oligo-chaetes and chironomids in the depth zone 0.5—5 m. This was probably due to increased food availability for detritivorous animals, caused by the liming. The increased number of species of coleopterans and corixids observed was probably caused by elevated biological activity in general. In the profundal of Lake S. Boksjo a strong decrease in number of species and density of bottom animals was recorded after liming. This is suggested to be caused by precipitation of A1 or other metals.

    Abstract: A deep Main river was examined to determine the effects of selected environmental variables on benthic invertebrate community structure. Thirty-three sites were sampled by divers using artificial substrates. The Bray-Curtis ordination was used to establish community types based upon combinations of current velocity, siltation, and organic detritus. While some invertebrates were tightly clustered within particular communities, most taxa tended to concentrate in one community type but were not excluded from others. The results tended to support the individualistic hypothesis of species distribution.
